A Day in the Life of a Higher Images Employee: SEO Team Lead Alex Rutkowski
Alex Rutkowski is Higher Images’ SEO Team Lead, which means he’s involved in every part of the SEO process. His day usually revolves around his clients’ SEO needs. Here’s a snapshot of the work that he does every day.
Alex spends quite a bit of time each day meeting with his SEO clients. He determines their goals and what they’re trying to accomplish online, whether it’s gaining new leads or leading people to particular product pages on a client’s website. He develops an SEO action plan to help the client meet those goals, implements the plan, and then gathers data for monthly SEO reports.
Although he spends a lot of time with clients, he also spends a few hours working with the rest of the SEO team as they work onsite (optimizing websites) and offsite (link building, review management, and social media) techniques to improve their clients’ standings with various keywords.
Every week, he spends a lot of time studying and developing his skills. “SEO optimization changes rapidly, and so does the landscape of our industry, based on what algorithms the search engines are using to determine relevance and rank,” he says. “It can be challenging to solve problems for a customer in an industry that changes so often. But I really enjoy problem solving until I get the right answer.”
Alex has nearly 20 years of experience in marketing with small businesses. He started as a regional manager with Budget Truck Rental, where one of his jobs was buying yellow page ads (remember those?). He realized that he liked selling phone book ads more than buying them, and eventually moved into the digital marketing space first as a consultant, and now as an SEO project manager.
“I love SEO because it brings a real sense of satisfaction when I work with a client to increase the amount of sales, the number of patients, or the mentions in social media. They can see a tangible difference in the amount of business from the work our SEO team has performed. My goal every day is to make my clients money,” Alex says.
